The ramp to one of Hamburg's busiest motorways will be closed for two and a half years. From today, it is no longer possible to drive directly onto the section of the A7 towards Hanover at Bahrenfeld. Instead, an unusual detour was created. From a bird's-eye view, it resembles a huge slalom track, which at ground level is an efficient solution leading to the Othmarschen ramp. Those wishing to access the motorway at Bahrenfeld in the direction of the Elbtunnel must first follow a new one-way road that runs parallel to the A7. After the first turn, they cross the highway on a temporary bridge, then take the second turn next to the UCI cinema.
Those who then turn two more times will eventually find themselves on the driveway of Othmarschen. Autobahn GmbH hopes for positive feedback Karina Fischer, traffic coordinator of Autobahn GmbH Nord, points out: "This temporary solution has been built extremely efficiently. We hope that road users will accept it and not try to find detours in the surrounding streets.” He asks people to trust the work of transport planners. However, the one-way road is narrow, the speed limit is 40 km/h. There is also a risk of traffic jams on the new route due to the lights. Detour for residents to their underground parking garage For the residents of Jürgen-Töpfer-Straße, the disadvantage of the transport system is that they can only get to their underground parking garage via a long detour. Wide, barrier-free routes have been created for those traveling by bicycle or on foot. This detour is necessary because the A7 gets a noise protection tunnel at Altona.
